Setting up knowledge base menus

Learn about how to update your knowledge base header and footer menus

AssistFlare has a powerful menu editor which allows you to easily edit your header for footer menus. The location of the header and footer menus are as follows:
The top being the header menu, the bottom being the footer menu

To edit the header or footer menu, from the knowledge base dashboard:
  1. Navigate to the Look & Feel link under the Settings section from the left navigation menu.
  1. Click on the Menus section which will open up the menu editor sheet.
  1. From the menu editor, you can select the menu you want to edit at the top: Header Menu or Footer Menu.

  1. From the left menu editor pane, you can choose to add a menu item of type: External Link, Collection or Article.
    1. External Link: A link you want to provide which can be a link to an external site or even one to an internal article.
    2. Collection: A link to one of the collections you have within the knowledge base. AssistFlare will automatically determine the URL of the collection and link to it.
    3. Article: A link to one of the articles you have within your knowledge base. AssistFlare will again automatically determine the URL of the article and link to it.
  1. Drag the type you want to add from the left pane to the right pane.
    1. If you choose External Link, you need to provide at least the URL for the external link.
    2. For each menu item type, you can specify whether you want to open the link in a new tab or not

  1. You can re-order the items within a menu by dragging them using the drag handles on the left to the correct position you want to have them in.

  1. Once you are done, click Back to Customizations and hit Save Customizations to save your menu.
